Qu\u2019est-ce que la leptospirose?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

La leptospirose est une grave maladie bact\u00e9rienne qui se manifeste chez les animaux domestiques, les animaux sauvages et les humains. Il s\u2019agit de la zoonose la plus r\u00e9pandue \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire une maladie qui peut toucher tant les animaux que les humains. Les bact\u00e9ries qui causent la maladie sont transmises par l\u2019urine des animaux infect\u00e9s et peuvent survivre pendant des semaines, voire des mois, dans le sol, les eaux de surface (p. ex. : lacs, ruisseaux, rivi\u00e8res) et l\u2019eau stagnante (p. ex. : flaques). La leptospirose peut causer de la fi\u00e8vre, une jaunisse, une insuffisance r\u00e9nale, un avortement et m\u00eame la mort.<\/p>

Votre chien risque-t-il de contracter la leptospirose?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

La leptospirose se transmet g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement lorsqu\u2019une plaie cutan\u00e9e ou une muqueuse (yeux, nez ou bouche) entre en contact avec de l\u2019urine infect\u00e9e. Votre chien peut \u00eatre expos\u00e9 aux bact\u00e9ries Leptospira en buvant de l\u2019eau contamin\u00e9e ou en nageant ou en marchant dans de l\u2019eau contamin\u00e9e. Par ailleurs, la curiosit\u00e9 et la tendance de votre chien \u00e0 \u00ab suivre son nez \u00bb m\u00eame l\u00e0 o\u00f9 il ne devrait pas sont des traits de caract\u00e8re pouvant l\u2019amener \u00e0 entrer en contact avec de l\u2019urine infect\u00e9e.<\/p>

Signes cliniques, diagnostic et traitement.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

La fi\u00e8vre, la perte de poids, les vomissements, la diarrh\u00e9e, la d\u00e9shydratation et la douleur abdominale font partie des signes cliniques de la leptospirose chez les chiens. Si vous soup\u00e7onnez que votre chien a \u00e9t\u00e9 infect\u00e9, consultez votre m\u00e9decin v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire. Ce dernier pourra effectuer des analyses d\u2019urine et de sang afin de d\u00e9terminer s\u2019il s\u2019agit bien de la leptospirose.\u00a0 Des antibiotiques et une fluidoth\u00e9rapie peuvent \u00eatre n\u00e9cessaires pour traiter la maladie.
