La d\u00e9tection des facteurs de risque associ\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019insuffisance r\u00e9nale chronique (IRC), c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire le d\u00e9clin graduel\u00a0de la fonction r\u00e9nale au fil du temps, est toutefois complexe puisque les chats sont souvent amen\u00e9s chez le m\u00e9decin v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire quand la maladie est d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 un stade avanc\u00e9. Il est \u00e9galement difficile de distinguer les facteurs de risque de processus morbides concomitants associ\u00e9s au vieillissement. De multiples facteurs de risque contribuent au d\u00e9clin graduel de la fonction r\u00e9nale au fil du temps, notamment les maladies concomitantes.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3><h3><span style=\"color: #bc202e;\"><strong>FACTEURS DE RISQUE<\/strong><\/span><\/h3><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Voici des exemples de facteurs de risque connus pour l\u2019instant\u00a0:<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">RACE<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Des \u00e9tudes ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que certaines races de chats sont davantage susceptibles de d\u00e9velopper une IRC (et d\u2019autres maladies familiales). Il s\u2019agit des abyssins, birmans, maine coons, persans, ragdolls, bleus de Russie et siamois.<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">\u00c2GE<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Bien que les chats puissent d\u00e9velopper une IRC \u00e0 tout \u00e2ge, elle est plus fr\u00e9quente chez les chats plus \u00e2g\u00e9s, mais ces derniers peuvent aussi \u00eatre atteints d\u2019autres processus morbides associ\u00e9s au vieillissement qui peuvent jouer un r\u00f4le dans le d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019IRC.Les chats plus jeunes peuvent d\u00e9velopper une IRC en raison de maladies r\u00e9nales familiales.<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">PR\u00c9SENCE D\u2019UNE OU DE PLUSIEURS MALADIES CONCOMITANTES<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Voici des exemples de maladies concomitantes possibles qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9finies comme \u00e9tant des facteurs de risque potentiellement associ\u00e9s au d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019IRC chez les chats\u00a0:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Hypercalc\u00e9mie\u00a0: quantit\u00e9 excessive de calcium dans le sang<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Cystite\u00a0: inflammation de la vessie souvent caus\u00e9e par une infection<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Diab\u00e8te\u00a0: capacit\u00e9 r\u00e9duite \u00e0 produire de l\u2019insuline ou \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 l\u2019insuline (hormone)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Maladie infectieuse\u00a0: maladie caus\u00e9e par des microorganismes qui envahissent les tissus<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Urolithiase\u00a0: formation de calculs dans les reins, la vessie ou le tractus urinaire<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Hyperthyro\u00efdisme\u00a0: surproduction d\u2019une hormone par une glande dans le cou (thyro\u00efde)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Cardiopathies\u00a0: affections du c\u0153ur (vaisseaux malades, probl\u00e8mes structurels, caillots sanguins, etc.)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Parodontopathies\u00a0: infections graves qui endommagent les gencives et peuvent d\u00e9truire les os de la m\u00e2choire<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><strong><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">NOURRITURE<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Certaines nourritures ont \u00e9t\u00e9 associ\u00e9es au d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019IRC chez les chats, plus particuli\u00e8rement la nourriture pauvre en potassium et riche en prot\u00e9ines. La consommation d\u2019une nourriture non adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 chaque \u00e9tape du cycle de vie peut \u00eatre n\u00e9faste.
