Si vous remarquez des changements dans le comportement ou l\u2019apparence de votre animal, la douleur pourrait \u00eatre en cause. Les animaux cachent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement leur douleur et ne peuvent pas vous dire o\u00f9 ni \u00e0 quel point cela fait mal. La douleur non trait\u00e9e peut entra\u00eener d\u2019autres complications de sant\u00e9, telles que la diminution de l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 du syst\u00e8me immunitaire, des troubles digestifs et de l\u2019insomnie.<\/span><\/h2>

Types de douleur<\/span><\/h2>

La douleur aigu\u00eb<\/strong><\/span> (g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de courte dur\u00e9e) est une r\u00e9ponse pr\u00e9visible \u00e0 un stimulus (comme un \u00e9crasement ou une torsion) ou \u00e0 une l\u00e9sion tissulaire (comme une incision ou une plaie \u00e0 la suite d\u2019une intervention chirurgicale).<\/p>

La douleur chronique<\/strong><\/span> (g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de longue dur\u00e9e) est plut\u00f4t associ\u00e9e \u00e0 une maladie \u00e9volutive, comme l\u2019arthrose (OA) ou maladie articulaire d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rative. L\u2019arthrose est tr\u00e8s courante chez les animaux de compagnie vieillissants, en particulier les chiens, et est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement le r\u00e9sultat de l\u2019usure continue et de l\u2019instabilit\u00e9 des articulations.<\/p>

Prise en charge de la douleur et soulagement de votre animal<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>

Des AINS pour la ma\u00eetrise de la douleur<\/strong><\/p>

La m\u00e9decine v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire a fait de grands progr\u00e8s pour comprendre comment les animaux ressentent la douleur et les meilleures fa\u00e7ons de prendre celle-ci en charge. Heureusement, il existe des m\u00e9dicaments con\u00e7us sp\u00e9cialement pour les animaux afin de soulager la douleur de fa\u00e7on efficace et s\u00e9curitaire chez les chiens et les chats.<\/p>

Les anti-inflammatoires non st\u00e9ro\u00efdiens (AINS) sont des analg\u00e9siques (m\u00e9dicaments antidouleur) v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires approuv\u00e9s pour ma\u00eetriser la douleur et l\u2019inflammation. Les AINS ont de nombreuses utilisations, par exemple pour soulager la douleur associ\u00e9e \u00e0 une chirurgie de routine ou d\u2019urgence ou \u00e0 une blessure, ou encore pour une utilisation \u00e0 plus long terme pour le traitement de la douleur associ\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019arthrose chez les chiens et les chats.<\/p>

Les AINS agissent rapidement pour r\u00e9duire les prostaglandines (substances semblables \u00e0 des hormones) associ\u00e9es \u00e0 la douleur et \u00e0 l\u2019inflammation, ce qui permet aux animaux de reprendre leurs activit\u00e9s et de continuer \u00e0 bouger. Une fois la douleur soulag\u00e9e, les animaux peuvent faire de l\u2019exercice et leurs syst\u00e8mes, comme leur c\u0153ur, leurs poumons et leur digestion, peuvent reprendre un fonctionnement normal.<\/p>

Lorsque la douleur et l\u2019inconfort peuvent \u00eatre efficacement pris en charge et ma\u00eetris\u00e9s, les animaux de compagnie souffrant de maladie articulaire d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rative peuvent faire de l\u2019exercice et pr\u00e9server leur masse musculaire, ce qui aide \u00e0 maintenir un meilleur alignement de leurs articulations et, par le fait m\u00eame, \u00e0 att\u00e9nuer leur douleur et \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer leur bien-\u00eatre g\u00e9n\u00e9ral.<\/p>

Les propri\u00e9taires d\u2019animaux aiment savoir que leur compagnon se sent bien.
