La saison estivale est \u00e0 nos portes, ce qui signifie que le meilleur ami de l’humain devra affronter un danger estival m\u00e9connu : les moustiques.<\/span><\/h2>

Les propri\u00e9taires de chiens qui sont conscients des risques que posent les moustiques \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 et au bien-\u00eatre de leur animal seront ravis d’apprendre qu’ils peuvent offrir \u00e0 leur compagnon une protection compl\u00e8te, simple et \u00e9conomique.<\/p>

LE RISQUE MOUSTIQUE <\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Rares sont les propri\u00e9taires d’animaux qui sont conscients de l’ampleur du risque que posent les moustiques pour leur chien. En plus d’\u00eatre une source d’irritation, les piq\u00fbres de moustiques peuvent causer des allergies et des infections, et transmettre des maladies graves.\u00a0<\/p>

Votre chien pourrait avoir une r\u00e9action allergique aux piq\u00fbres de moustiques. M\u00eame une seule piq\u00fbre de moustique peut causer des d\u00e9mangeaisons et une irritation qui poussera l’animal \u00e0 se gratter ou \u00e0 se machouiller la peau de fa\u00e7on excessive. M\u00eame si dans la majorit\u00e9 des cas, ce genre d’allergie garde la forme d’une irritation localis\u00e9e de la peau, dans des cas graves, elle peut causer une infection cutan\u00e9e.<\/p>

On a \u00e9galement signal\u00e9 des cas de chiens ayant contract\u00e9 le virus du Nil occidental par suite d’une piq\u00fbre de moustique et pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 des sympt\u00f4mes de fi\u00e8vre et de l\u00e9thargie. La dirofilariose ou ver du c\u0153ur, caus\u00e9e par le parasite (Dirofilaria immitis<\/em>), est \u00e9galement transmise par des piq\u00fbres d’insectes et est end\u00e9mique dans certaines r\u00e9gions du Canada. Le traitement de la dirofilariose est compliqu\u00e9 et dispendieux et il est donc fortement recommand\u00e9 de pr\u00e9venir cette maladie au moyen de m\u00e9dicaments contre le ver du c\u0153ur prescrits par un m\u00e9decin v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire.<\/p>

PROT\u00c9GEZ VOTRE CHIEN <\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Heureusement, les propri\u00e9taires de chiens peuvent facilement prot\u00e9ger leur animal contre les dangers que posent les moustiques en suivant ces trois \u00e9tapes.\u00a0<\/p>

  1. \u00c9liminez toute source d’eau stagnante autour de votre maison o\u00f9 les moustiques peuvent se reproduire. Gardez les portes et les fen\u00eatres ferm\u00e9es pour \u00e9viter que les moustiques entre dans la maison. Plantez de la citronnelle dans votre jardin pour \u00e9loigner les moustiques.<\/li>
  2. \u00c9vitez d’aller prendre une marche avec votre chien \u00e0 l’aube ou au cr\u00e9puscule lorsque les moustiques sont plus actifs et \u00e9vitez les mar\u00e9cages, les lacs et autres zones infest\u00e9es par les moustiques.<\/li>
  3. N’utilisez jamais de chasse-moustiques destin\u00e9s aux humains sur votre chien car ces produits sont toxiques pour les animaux. Informez-vous aupr\u00e8s de votre m\u00e9decin v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire au sujet de chasse-moustiques pour les chiens.<\/li>
  4. Demandez de l’information \u00e0 votre \u00e9quipe de soins v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires sur la pr\u00e9vention du ver du c\u0153ur.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
