Pour tout propri\u00e9taire de chien, rien n\u2019est plus p\u00e9nible que d\u2019entendre que son animal bien-aim\u00e9 est atteint d\u2019un cancer. <\/span><\/h2>

Cette maladie redoutable se manifeste sous maintes formes et compte pour pr\u00e8s de 50\u00a0% des d\u00e9c\u00e8s chez le chien. Avec un tel chiffre, on peut envisager le pire dans tous les cas, mais il faut garder \u00e0 l\u2019esprit qu\u2019un diagnostic de cancer ne condamne pas automatiquement l\u2019animal \u00e0 une mort imm\u00e9diate. Les progr\u00e8s en sciences v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires, en particulier en oncologie canine, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 possibles gr\u00e2ce aux propri\u00e9taires d\u2019animaux de compagnie. En effet, ces derniers ont permis l\u2019essai de nouveaux traitements sur leurs toutous alors qu\u2019aucune autre avenue ne semblait prometteuse. Malheureusement, seuls quelques chanceux ont pu participer aux \u00e9tudes, mais les r\u00e9sultats ont permis de mettre au point de nombreux nouveaux traitements qui sont plus largement accessibles aux propri\u00e9taires. Le pr\u00e9sent article est le premier d\u2019une courte s\u00e9rie sur les types de cancer les plus r\u00e9pandus chez le chien. Nous y aborderons ces types de cancer, la fa\u00e7on de les diagnostiquer, les choses \u00e0 surveiller et les options de traitement les plus efficaces.<\/p>

Les chiens \u00e2g\u00e9s de dix ans ou plus sont particuli\u00e8rement \u00e0 risque d\u2019avoir un de plus d\u2019une centaine de types de cancer touchant nos compagnons canins. Les sympt\u00f4mes vont de bosses suspectes \u00e0 des l\u00e9sions visibles, en passant par de nombreux autres indicateurs typiques. Parfois, ils sont caus\u00e9s par d\u2019autres affections que le cancer. C\u2019est pourquoi les propri\u00e9taires doivent faire examiner leur animal par un m\u00e9decin v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire en cas d\u2019inqui\u00e9tude. Savoir ce qu\u2019il faut surveiller vous aidera \u00e0 rep\u00e9rer une \u00e9ventuelle tumeur maligne et \u00e0 stopper sa progression avec l\u2019aide d\u2019un m\u00e9decin sp\u00e9cialiste.<\/p>

Cancers des os<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Ils prennent naissance dans l\u2019os ou dans d\u2019autres parties du corps si la maladie a provoqu\u00e9 des m\u00e9tastases.<\/p>

L\u2019ost\u00e9osarcome<\/em><\/strong> est la forme la plus r\u00e9pandue de cancer des os et repr\u00e9sente environ 95\u00a0% des cas. Il appara\u00eet lorsque des cellules osseuses immatures sont malform\u00e9es et se multiplient de mani\u00e8re anormale. Comme il s\u2019agit d\u2019une maladie tr\u00e8s agressive, le d\u00e9pistage pr\u00e9coce est essentiel. M\u00eame dans un tel cas, le traitement est radical et n\u00e9cessite souvent l\u2019amputation du membre atteint. Heureusement, si on d\u00e9tecte et traite la maladie t\u00f4t, le patient peut vivre en bonne sant\u00e9 encore plusieurs ann\u00e9es.<\/p>

Le chondrosarcome<\/em><\/strong> occupe la deuxi\u00e8me place en termes de taux d\u2019incidence chez les chiens et se trouve g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement dans les cavit\u00e9s nasales ou les c\u00f4tes.<\/p>

Autre forme de cancer, beaucoup moins fr\u00e9quente\u00a0: le my\u00e9lome<\/strong><\/em>, \u00e9galement connu sous le nom de cancer de la moelle osseuse, qui affecte les globules blancs.<\/p>

Signes et sympt\u00f4mes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Perte d\u2019app\u00e9tit et l\u00e9thargie<\/strong>\u00a0: Si ce comportement inhabituel dure plus de deux ou trois jours, il faut le prendre au s\u00e9rieux. Bien s\u00fbr, ce n\u2019est pas toujours grave. C\u2019est toutefois un signe avant-coureur, facilement rep\u00e9rable; il est donc plus sage de s\u2019en occuper sans tarder.<\/p>

D\u00e9marche chancelante ou<\/strong> boiterie<\/strong>\u00a0: N\u2019ignorez jamais ce signe, car il indique que votre chien ne va pas bien. Ce n\u2019est peut-\u00eatre rien de plus grave qu\u2019une blessure musculaire, mais m\u00eame celle-ci m\u00e9rite notre attention. Dans le pire des cas, ce signe pourrait annoncer quelque chose de beaucoup plus grave.<\/p>

Signes de douleur intense<\/strong>\u00a0: Si votre toutou se plaint, g\u00e9mit et n\u2019a plus sa bonne humeur habituelle, vous savez qu\u2019il a mal. Aucun propri\u00e9taire qui aime son animal n\u2019ignorerait ces signes bien longtemps.<\/p>

\u00c9coulement des narines<\/strong>\u00a0: Le chien a quatre cents fois plus de r\u00e9cepteurs olfactifs que l\u2019humain; l\u2019\u00e9coulement nasal est donc toujours tr\u00e8s aga\u00e7ant pour lui. Neuf fois sur dix, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une simple allergie ou d\u2019un probl\u00e8me mineur. Par contre, il faut consulter d\u2019urgence en pr\u00e9sence de mucus ou de sang.<\/p>

Difficult\u00e9s respiratoires<\/strong>\u00a0: Elles peuvent \u00eatre dues \u00e0 une allergie ou \u00e0 quelque chose de plus grave. Il ne faut pas ignorer une respiration laborieuse, surtout si elle dure plus d\u2019un jour ou deux.<\/p>

Croissance d\u2019une masse sur le corps du chien ou enflure aux c\u00f4tes, \u00e0 la colonne vert\u00e9brale, aux pattes ou \u00e0 la m\u00e2choire<\/strong>\u00a0: \u00c0 moins qu\u2019il ne s\u2019agisse du r\u00e9sultat temporaire d\u2019un coup ou d\u2019une autre blessure connue, ces sympt\u00f4mes sont graves.<\/p>

Le pronostic pour un chien atteint d\u2019une forme quelconque de cancer d\u00e9pend des facteurs suivants\u00a0: la propagation \u00e9ventuelle de la maladie et sa gravit\u00e9 ainsi que le traitement choisi. L\u2019\u00e2ge et le poids de l\u2019animal en plus de l\u2019emplacement de la tumeur influencent \u00e9galement l\u2019issue probable. Pour maximiser les chances de r\u00e9ussite du traitement, votre m\u00e9decin v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire prendra le temps de discuter des options qui conviennent le mieux \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tat de votre chien.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
