(mettant la vie en danger)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Risque chirurgical et anesth\u00e9sique accru<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Probl\u00e8mes cutan\u00e9s (peau s\u00e8che et squameuse et\/ou acn\u00e9 f\u00e9line)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Diminution de la qualit\u00e9 et de la dur\u00e9e de vie (les routines normales deviennent difficiles; la douleur et l\u2019irritabilit\u00e9 peuvent augmenter)<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h3><span style=\"color: #bc202e;\"><strong>Pourquoi les chats deviennent-ils ob\u00e8ses?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Il y a plusieurs raisons pour lesquelles les chats deviennent en surpoids et ob\u00e8ses. Une raison \u00e9vidente est qu\u2019ils consomment plus de calories qu\u2019ils ne peuvent en br\u00fbler.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Pensez aux mammif\u00e8res sauvages dans la nature : ils doivent travailler physiquement pour pouvoir se nourrir. Mais les chats (et autres animaux de compagnie) re\u00e7oivent de la nourriture sans fournir aucun effort. Les bols de certains chats restent m\u00eame toujours pleins, au cas o\u00f9 ils auraient faim et que leur propri\u00e9taire ne serait pas l\u00e0 pour les nourrir. La chasse et la cueillette pour les humains et les animaux de compagnie ont pratiquement disparu. La survie, en ce qui a trait aux ressources disponibles, est facile.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">La diff\u00e9rence entre l\u2019alimentation des humains et celle des chats domestiques r\u00e9side dans le fait que nous contr\u00f4lons ce que les chats mangent; il est donc de notre responsabilit\u00e9 de g\u00e9rer leur consommation de nourriture. (Les chats qui chassent et mangent plus d\u00e9pensent au moins un peu d\u2019\u00e9nergie.)<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\"><strong>La conclusion? Les humains sont la principale raison pour laquelle les chats deviennent ob\u00e8ses.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p><p>Voici quelques autres causes possibles.<\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">\u00c2ge\u00a0: g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement entre 2 et 12\u00a0ans<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Temp\u00e9ratures basses (augmentation des besoins en calories)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">M\u00e9dicaments qui influent sur le m\u00e9tabolisme et l\u2019app\u00e9tit<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Type de nourriture, app\u00e9tence et quantit\u00e9 disponible<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Faible niveau d\u2019activit\u00e9 (l\u2019animal ne br\u00fble pas toutes les calories consomm\u00e9es)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Concurrence pour la nourriture dans les maisons o\u00f9 plusieurs chats ou animaux de compagnie cohabitent<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Chats st\u00e9rilis\u00e9s (leur m\u00e9tabolisme est plus lent, donc ils ont besoin de moins de calories)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Stress et anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 caus\u00e9s par l\u2019environnement social (peuvent faire augmenter l\u2019app\u00e9tit)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Chats d&#8217;int\u00e9rieur pr\u00e9sentent un risque plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 d&#8217;ob\u00e9sit\u00e9 en raison de leur faible niveau d&#8217;activit\u00e9<\/span><\/li><li>Chats qui souffrent de douleur associ\u00e9e \u00e0 l&#8217;arthrite ou \u00e0 d&#8217;autres causes, sont moins actifs et plus susceptibles \u00e0 prendre du poids<\/li><\/ul><p><strong><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\"><em>On ne sait pas avec certitude si la race et les facteurs g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques jouent un r\u00f4le dans la prise de poids.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Outre les programmes de perte de poids, certaines maladies doivent \u00eatre prises en charge (g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement avec des m\u00e9dicaments).<\/span><\/p><h3><span style=\"color: #bc202e;\"><strong>Mesures \u00e0 prendre lorsque votre chat est en surpoids ou ob\u00e8se<\/strong><\/span><\/h3><p><span style=\"color: #171b4b;\">Que faire si votre chat ne mange pas beaucoup, mais prend quand m\u00eame du poids? Il pourrait \u00eatre temps de prendre rendez-vous avec votre m\u00e9decin v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire (n\u2019attendez pas la visite annuelle). Votre m\u00e9decin v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire saura quelles analyses doivent \u00eatre effectu\u00e9es.
