It turns out, astrology can predict some of those characteristics. But can it determine who might be the most suitable pet owners? Astrologers say yes. Read on to hear from a panel of experts about which members of the zodiac make the best cat owners, from casual feline parents to those who spend every last minute catering to their kitties.

6. LIBRA

Libras value sophistication and outward appearances, and cats can offer them just that.

“Cats’ meticulously clean, elegant, and graceful nature makes them the perfect companion for the refined and fashionable Libra,” says Masha Loddy, owner of the tarot, astrology, and spirituality blog Pish Witch. “These air signs will genuinely appreciate the aesthetic look of a silky smooth Russian Blue or the dignified, glamorous qualities of the Maine Coon.”

Because Libras enjoy being surrounded by beautiful things that are made to last, their cats will have the highest-quality beds, collars, scratching posts, and every other kitty accessory.

5. CANCER

Represented by the Crab, Cancer is the homebody of the zodiac. And what better person to shower a cat with constant love and affection than a born nurturer?

“Cancerians want nothing more than to pamper the people and animals they love,” says Loddy. “Taking care of a precious kitty allows Cancer to bestow the motherly love and attention that makes them feel warm and fuzzy.”

Don’t be surprised if a Cancer cat owner tells you they bake homemade treats for their pet or that they need to leave a social function early to play with their furry friend.

4. CAPRICORN

According to Maria Hayes, astrologer and tarot reader at Trusted Astrology, each animal has its own ruling planet. For cats, that planet is Saturn, the same one that governs Capricorn. So, these two understand each other on a deep level.

“Just like Capricorn, cats reward their owners for acknowledging boundaries; they will not give their affections easily, and you need to prove you are worthy before they cuddle up with you,” says Hayes. “Capricorns are also good cat owners since they don’t get mad even if their furry friends wake them up at night.”

This sign is extraordinarily tolerant and never tires of offering their pets treats and playtime.

3. LEO

Leo is represented by the Lion, so it’s no surprise it’s one of the top three best cat owners.

“Cats are subtle, hard to read, and very comfortable on their own. Feline owners have this trait that doesn’t really sit well with dog people who are used to being greeted enthusiastically and licked all the time,” says Hayes. “Similarly, Leo wouldn’t think of embarrassing themselves with a puppyish nature.”

Another reason Leos make fabulous cat owners is for the aesthetic. “Nothing makes them happier than sharing a selfie with their pet cutie,” Hayes adds.

2. SCORPIO

There are no two beings that are more similar in nature than a Scorpio and a cat.

“Cats and Scorpios both require solitude and independence on an intense level, and if you cross into this space without permission, then beware of the claws,” says Bre the Malefic, astrologer, psychic medium, and tarot reader. “A cat approaching you to request being petted is similar to a Scorpio sharing a personal fact about themselves; will you shower them with adoration, or will you make a mistake and have the cat and Scorpio pull away entirely?”

“Taurus is a fixed earth sign ruled by the planet of love and pleasure, Venus, meaning it has a deep need to be comfortable at all times and will spend the time, energy, and resources ensuring its home matches this energy,” says Bre. “A cat fits perfectly in this space and would have no issue finding a comfy, cozy space to relax.”

Another reason Tauruses make excellent cat owners is that they’re highly routine-focused. Cats can depend on their Taurus owners to feed them, play with them, and pet them every day at the same time, without fail. Plus, their cats will get all the snuggles and affection they allow.
