To many Americans, Canada seems like a land of enchantment—though we don’t visit often, we often hear about the warmth and friendliness of its people and the abundance of fun experiences. And let’s not forget poutine, which looks absolutely delicious!

However, there’s one gem that many people might not know about: the Toronto Cat Tour. On September 10th, one woman stumbled upon it by chance, and she ended up loving every moment. Now, it’s clear that we all need to plan a visit:

It seems the Toronto Cat Tour is a recent phenomenon, with their first Instagram post appearing in July. The concept is straightforward: cat owners in Toronto sign up via a form, indicating, “Yes, I have a cat—please pass by my house and check it out!” The only requirement is that your cat must live in Toronto and be either outdoors or visible from a window.

The tour is a walking event and is free to join. Participants simply hold up a sign, and those who find them can join in, much like a playful Cat Distribution System! Unfortunately, the next tour isn’t scheduled until 2025, with the exact date yet to be determined.

How to Organize Events for Pet Lovers

If there’s one thing we can all stand to learn from the Toronto Cat Tour, evidently, it’s that there aren’t enough events like this in the world. Cute things like this are so few and far between!

Whether it’s cats, dogs, or everything in-between, literally anyone could organize an event to celebrate them. It doesn’t have to cost tons of money, just like the Toronto Cat Tour: give people an opportunity to show off their pets and they’ll often take it! You could even do a little bit of good: sell snacks, stickers, or other little merch items and donate the profits to a local animal shelter!

To organize something, you could try:

  1. Teaming up with a local rescue to make a whole event out of it.
  2. Posting in local Facebook groups if you’re looking for specific pets.
  3. Advertising the event on TikTok (make sure to geotag your location!)
  4. Posting actual flyers around your town.

Once you decide what kind of event you want to throw, you’ll need to find a venue. From there, you could honestly just let everyone else find you – it worked for Laura Newman, it could work for you!
