The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has revised a rule that would have required many dog owners to get a microchip for their dog if they took it across the border to Canada.
Initially, starting August 1, the CDC planned to require any dog entering the United States to have a microchip due to rabies concerns.
However, the CDC has now announced that the microchip rule will not apply if your dog is coming from a rabies-free, low-risk country like Canada.
You still have to fill out a dog import form and that requirement starts Thursday, August 1. For that form, click here.
